It covers all relevant process steps and technologies along the fuel supply chain (emissions of exploration, refinery, transportation etc.) and distance travelled by car. The data set represents the applied technology with a good overall data quality. The inventory is based on industry and literature data.0The data set is representative for the mentioned region.Passenger car with variable parameters: sulphur content of fuel, driving share urban/interurban/motorway and total mileage over lifetime. Inputs: vehicle (production). Outputs: driving distance, combustion emissions (ammonia, benzene, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane, nitrogen oxides, nitrous oxide, NMVOC, particulate PM 2.5, sulphur dioxide, toluene, xylene), vehicle (end-of-life). Data set includes the whole fuel supply chain (emissions of exploration, refinery, transportation etc.). Car production and end-of-life treatment of the car are not included in the data set. The average fuel consumption of the car is 5,5 l/100km.Diesel mix at refineryCar, diesel, Euro 4, engine size 1.4-2lDistance travelled by car per kmtransport_car.jpgLCI resultAttributionalNoneAllocation - market valueAllocation - net calorific valueAllocation - exergetic contentAllocation - massForeground system: For the foreground system, no allocation was applied.
Background system: For the combined heat and power production, allocation by exergetic content is applied. For the electricity generation and by-products, e.g. gypsum, allocation by market value is applied due to no common physical properties. Within the refinery allocation by net calorific value and mass is used. For the combined crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids production allocation by net calorific value is applied.
For details please see the document "GaBi Databases Modelling Principles"Direct land use change: GHG emissions from direct LUC allocated to good/service for 20 years after the LUC occurs.
Carbon storage and delayed emissions: credits associated with temporary (carbon) storage or delayed emissions are not considered in the calculation of the Global Warming Potential impacts for the default impact categories.
Emissions off-setting: not included
Fossil and biogenic carbon emissions and removals: removals and emissions are modelled as follows: All GHG emissions from fossil fuels (including peat and limestone) are modelled consistently with the ILCD list of elementary flows. In the case that the emissions refer to the molecules CO2 and CH4, they are modelled as ‘carbon dioxide (fossil)’ and ‘methane (fossil)’. Biogenic uptake and emissions are modelled separately. For land use change, all carbon emissions and uptakes are inventoried separately for each of the elementary flows. Soil carbon accumulation (uptake) via improved agricultural management is excluded from the model.NoneGaBi Modelling PrinciplesCut-off rules for each unit process: Coverage of at least 95 % of mass and energy of the input and output flows, and 98 % of their environmental relevance (according to expert judgement).

The data set allows individual settings of the variable parameters. The following parameters are variable: sulphur content of fuel, driving share urban/interurban/motorway and total mileage over lifetime. Default values of the variable parameters have to be checked and adjusted for individual use. The data set includes the fuel supply route. The production and end-of-life phase of the vehicle can be linked to the data set.All relevant flows quantifiedAnthropogenic Abiotic Depletion Potential (AADP), TU BerlinCML2001 - Jan. 2016, Abiotic Depletion (ADP elements)CML2001 - Jan. 2016, Abiotic Depletion (ADP fossil)CML2001 - Jan. 2016, Acidification Potential (AP)CML2001 - Jan. 2016, Eutrophication Potential (EP)CML2001 - Jan. 2016, Freshwater Aquatic Ecotoxicity Pot.
