This dataset is mainly based on industry data and contains results for module A1, A2 and A3 according to DIN EN 15804 (cradle to gate).01 kg Lucobit 1210AThe data set represents the situation of the company LUCOBIT AG in 50389 Wesseling, Germany, focusing on the main technologies and the legislative boundary conditions. In this Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) the thermoplastic synthetic material Lucobit 1210A is described. Lucobit 1210A is a grained thermoplastic synthetic material existing of a mixture of premium polyethylene copolymer and a special type of bitumen (ECB). The pure bitumen is homogeneously dispersed into a polymer matrix.
The LCA results include the life cycle stages of the production of primary products, mining, processing operations and input secondary materials (e.g. recycling processes), their transport to the factory and the production itself, including the provision of all supplies and materials, energy, and the complete waste treatment or landfilling of residual waste during the production stage. The modules A1, A2 and A3 are shown here as an aggregate module A1-A3. If these data were calculated for other modules, you will find them separately and for a consideration of the entire life cycle can be merged.
The declaration refers to the functional unit of 1kg Lucobit 1210A granulate.
All relevant material and energy flows were included in the system. Life cycle impacts of production equipment and infrastructure were not included in the system as no evidence could be justified that these are to any extent relevant and thus fell under the cut-off criteria. In mass production the impact of production equipment and infrastructure normally is in orders of magnitude lower than the impacts of material and energy supply.
The BACKGROUND system is addressed as follows: Electricity, Thermal energy: The electricity (and thermal energy as by-product) used is modelled according to the individual country-specific situation. The country-specific modelling is achieved on multiple levels. Firstly the individual power plants in service are modelled according to the current national grid. This includes net losses and imported electricity. Second, the national emission and efficiency standards of the power plants are modelled. Third, the country-specific fuel supply (share of resources used, by import and / or domestic supply) including the country-specific properties (e.g. element and energy contents) are accounted for. Fourth, the import, transport, mining and exploration processes for the energy carrier supply chain are modelled according to the specific situation of each power-producing country. The different mining and exploration techniques (emissions and efficiencies) in the different exploration countries are accounted for according to current engineering knowledge and information. Steam: The steam supply is modelled according to the individual country-specific situation with regard to the technology efficiencies and energy carriers used. Efficiencies range from 84% to 94% in relation to the representative energy carrier (gas, oil, coal). Coal, crude oil and natural gas used for the generation of steam are modelled according to the specific import situation (see electricity). Transports: All relevant and known transport processes used are included. Overseas transport including rail and truck transport to and from major ports for imported bulk resources are included. Furthermore all relevant and known pipeline and / or tanker transport of gases and oil imports are included. Energy carriers: Coal, crude oil, natural gas and uranium are modelled according to the specific import situation (see electricity). Refinery products: Diesel, gasoline, technical gases, fuel oils, basic oils and residues such as bitumen are modelled via a country-specific, refinery parameterized model. The refinery model represents the current national standard in refinery techniques (e.g. emission level, internal energy consumption,...) as well as the individual country-specific product output spectrum, which can be quite different from country to country. Hence the refinery products used show the individual country-specific use of resources. The supply of crude oil is modelled, again, according to the country-specific crude oil situation with the respective properties of the resources.Lucobit 1210A can be mixed into common asphaltic surfaces like asphalt concrete, stone mastic or mastic asphalt either by premixing it with bitumen (PmB) or by adding it into the mix during the asphalt production (PmA). Lucobit 1210A can also be used for industrial asphalt or binder courses because of high strains.LCI resultAttributionalNoneAllocation - market valueAllocation - net calorific valueAllocation - exergetic contentAllocation - massFOREGROUND system: Externally sold production wastes were allocated by market value.
BACKGROUND system: For the combined heat and power production, allocation by exergetic content is applied. For the electricity generation and by-products, e.g. gypsum, allocation by market value is applied due to no common physical properties. Within the refinery allocation by net calorific value and mass is used. For the combined crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids production allocation by net calorific value is applied. For details please see the document "GaBi Databases Modelling Principles"NoneThere were no cut-off criteria; the producer provided all needed data.NoneData from the production site of LUCOBIT AG was collected by data questionnaires. Data was subsequently verified in telephone conferences and meetings with specialist staff from LUCOBIT AG. For competitive reasons the primary data was supplemented with data based on literature. The GaBi 5 software system was used for generating the model of the production and as the source of background LCA information. The average environmental burdens of the national power grid mix in the production countries are used in the model. In case of an independent steam or energy supply at the production site, additional data was collected and modeled in GaBi 5. Data sets for the production and auxiliary materials as e.g. water were also taken from the GaBi 5 data base.NoneData is from the production site of LUCOBIT AG, below German boundary conditions.NoneGaBi databasesIBU-Deklaration Lucobit 1210A100.0This dataset contains results for module A1, A2 and A3 (cradle-to-gate) according to DIN EN 15804.No statementCML2001 - Apr. 2013, Freshwater Aquatic Ecotoxicity Pot.
