The report is not available online. For further information contact RISE / Pro Carton. The Pro Carton unit process is introduced into the GaBi database with minor changes. The SUB/SBB carton represents a carton manufactured entirely from primary (virgin) fiber.0The data set represents the European specific situation. The data set covers all relevant process steps from the arrival of wood, purchased pulp and other inputs at the mill gate to the production of printed, blank cartons ready for delivery to the paker/filler. It includes all production steps at the mill (integrated pulp production, papermaking, onsite energy and electricity production, onsite waste water treatment, etc) and conversion of the board into blank cartons (printing, varnishing, laminating, cutting, creasing and packing) at the converting site. Transport needs to be modeled seperately. Information on transport distances can be found at the end of this section. The data does not include upstream processes (production of wood, production of process chemicals, additives, inks, etc, production of fuels and purchased electricity, etc) or downstream processes (off-site waste water treatment, off-site waste management processes, etc). The inventory is based on primary data collected from industry representing internationally adopted production processes. It is a weighted average representing the average production technology across all mills and converstors contributing data. Data were collected from the producers by Pro Carton and ECMA for their European Environmental Database for Cartonboard and Carton Manufacturing. The data for the production of SBB/SUB were collected from mills, which together represent >90% of the total yearly production of SBB/SUB in Europe. Data were provided by mills in Finland and Sweden. Each mill produces between 55 000 - 470 000 tonnes of net saleable paper (including their liquid packaging board capacity). Carton converting data were provided by factories in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Romania, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom representing about 5% of the European converting oprations by volume. They varied in size producing between 1 000 and 50 000 tonnes of finished cartons ready for shipment.

Information on energy
The energy inputs in the LCI were given by ProCarton/RISE as GJ/t of Carton. Within this dataset the mass equivalents for these inputs are calculated by using the net calorific values in the corresponding GaBi flows.
